Columbia, SC - The South Carolina Democratic Party and the Democratic National Committee today announced that Charleston, South Carolina will be the location of the first DNC sanctioned debate on July 23, 2007.  The media sponsors for the debate will be YouTube/Google and CNN.  The debate will be simulcast on CNN en Espanol.  Additional details regarding venues and logistics will be announced later.

"This is another great example of how the 'Path to the Presidency' runs right through South Carolina," said state Democratic Party chair Carol Fowler.  "We're delighted to work with CNN, YouTube and Google to bring this important event to Charleston."

"Our strong field of Democratic candidates have been working hard, talking about the issues the American people care about and laying out a positive vision for America's future," said DNC Chairman Howard Dean.  "We are grateful to the media sponsors and the South Carolina Democratic Party for their role in providing important, diverse settings for the American people to hear directly from our candidates."
