Founder and director: Nathan Burd of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.  He started Ohioans for Mitt in late 2005.  On a front page article, "Discovering Governor Romney," he describes how in mid-2005 he saw a replay of Romney's speech to the Spartanburg SC Republican Party's President's Day Dinner on C-SPAN's "Road to the White House."

"Had I found my candidate for president more than three years in advance of the election?  He was articulate, smart, funny, likeable, and, much to my surprise, conservative.  In the following weeks, I did some research on Mitt’s career, his reforms in Massachusetts, and his positions on a variety of issues.  I also picked up a copy of Mitt's book 'Turnaround', which chronicles his leadership of the 2002 Winter Olympics.  I’ve become convinced that he is the best possible Republican candidate for president in the next election."
Burd has worked as Director of International Programs and Public Policy at Heartbeat International, a network of pro-life pregnancy centers headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, since 2004.  Previously Administrative and Legislative Aide to State Rep. Larry Wolpert (R-Hilliard).  Administrative Aide to then State Rep. Patrick Tiberi.  B.A. in Political Science from The Ohio State University in the summer of 2000.  Legislative Intern in the Washington, D.C. office of Congressman John Kasich summer 1999.

He lives in Reynoldsburg with his wife Jolene.  They attend Vineyard Christian Church in Pataskala.  He is a member of the Reynoldsburg Republican Club, the Ohio State Alumni Association, the New Century Project, and the Club For Growth.  He is also a candidate for Franklin County Republican Central Committee for Ward 4 in May 2006.

About Americans for Mitt

Americans for Mitt is dedicated to supporting Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney for President in 2008.  We have five key goals:

To encourage Mitt Romney to run for President.  His recent decision not to seek re-election in Massachusetts is a clear indicator that he is eyeing a run for the White House in 2008.  A strong show of grassroots support around the country will make his decision much easier.

To educate Americans about Mitt Romney; his background, his conservative ideology, his accomplishments, etc.  Americans for Mitt exists as an educational outreach initiative to familiarize voters with Governor Romney.

To build a strong network of Mitt supporters throughout the country. Americans for Mitt seeks to connect Mitt supporters all around the country to give Mitt the momentum he’ll need to be successful.

To help Mitt secure the Republican nomination for President in 2008 and to achieve victory in the general election.  The competition for the nomination and for the presidency will be fierce. Americans for Mitt will do our part to push Governor Romney to victory.

To encourage the formation of statewide organizations to support Mitt for President.  Strong presidential campaigns require well-organized grassroots support in each state.  Americans for Mitt seeks to encourage and assist individuals in other states that wish to develop their own “for Mitt” organization.  The formation of such groups could be especially helpful in the early primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.

Americans for Mitt is NOT endorsed by or affiliated with Gov. Romney or his staff. Americans for Mitt is an unincorporated grassroots online organization. We are NOT a PAC or a 527.

Americans for Mitt is directed by Nathan Burd of Columbus, Ohio.  Nathan began the “for Mitt” online movement when he founded Ohioans for Mitt in late 2005.

Americans for Mitt is also led by a 3 person regional advisory & editorial committee:
