- "I am one of a thousand highly-trained volunteers who are the
backbone
of California's field operation. I am responsible for recruiting
5 Hillary Corps members and managing 20 Hillary Corps members over the
next 5 months. I will be responsible for providing my Hillary
Corps
members with voter contact information for thheir precinct, training
them
as organizers, motivating them, securing speakers for house parties and
ensuring that the campaign receives complete information about the
results.
At its core, I am responsible for being a catalyst for the 1000-20-200
program."
Hillary Corps - "members will have the job of talking to their neighbors, friends, relatives and business associates about supporting Hillary Clinton. Unlike traditional field programs, we will be allowing our Hillary Corps members to decide the best way to contact voters. For instance, they can extend house party invitations while walking or phoning their own neighborhoods, or they can conduct traditional precinct walks and phone banking directed at voters outside of their social circles. But the key for them will be to contact voters in their neighborhood at first, because they are already members of their social network. Their goal will be to contact a minimum of 200 voters, identify 100 Hillary Clinton supporters and recruit 5 new Hillary Corps members." |
Before the Iowa Caucus was moved up to Jan. 3, 2008, the campaign envisaged that California might play a very significant role:
"Imagine this-up to a half-million votes will be cast in California in the week before the Iowa Caucus. For the first time, the California campaign will be in the vanguard of the presidential nomination process."
