Forums
Drake-IowaPolitics.com
Luncheon Series:
"The Drake-IowaPolitics.com
Luncheon Series provides a forum where major candidates, elected officials,
major party leaders, campaign organizers, pollsters, pundits and other
newsmakers can communicate directly with interested citizens as well as
Drake students, faculty and staff. The series, launched less than
a year before the crucial Iowa caucuses, will help focus attention on major
issues and Iowa's role in the presidential selection process -- both before
and after the caucuses." The programs are similar to town hall meetings.
IowaPolitics.com bureau chief Chris Dorsey asks questions then opens it
up to the audience for questions. The inaugural event on March 9,
2007 featured IDP chair Scott Brennan and RPI co-chair Leon Moseley.
Forum on International
Relations Series:
The U.S. Center for Citizen
Diplomacy and the Greater Des Moines Committee on Foreign Relations are
producing a "Forum on International Relations" series "to provide
presidential candidates
with an opportunity to present their philosophies and plans for international
relations as well as provide a question-and-answer period in which forum
attendees may present specific
questions to the candidates." Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) did the first
of these forums on March 9, 2007.
