On September 14 he met with area Democrats at the Schaben Family Dunlap Livestock Auction in Dunlap.  (The rest of the day was a meeting, media and travel: On the morning of the 14th, he had a private meeting with some labor leaders in Omaha.  After the Dunlap event, he returned to Omaha to tape a response to Bush’s speech, clips of which were aired on ABC Nightly News and several network affiliates that evening.  He also did news conference with several reporters by phone to rebut Bush’s contentions about the “surge” then traveled to Sioux City).

>Sen. Joe Biden visited Iowa for six days from May 26-31, 2007.  Jill Biden accompanied him on the trip and their daughter, Ashley, traveled with them the first two days.
On May 26 he held an Iraq Town Hall at the National Guard Armory in Council Bluffs; met with area Democrats at Sam’s Sodas and Sandwiches in Carroll; and met with area Democrats at Boone County Historical Center in Boone.
On May 27 he started with a live interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN's "Late Edition;" held an Iraq Town Hall at Iowa State University's Campanile Room in Ames; delivered the keynote address at the Johnson County Democrats' Family Picnic at Upper City Park, Shelter 2 in Iowa City; and held an Iraq Town Hall at the Lion Train Depot in Clinton.
On May 28 he attended a Memorial Day breakfast with war veterans and their families at Amvets Post 49 Hall in Cedar Falls; marched in the Waterloo Memorial Day parade starting on Commercial Street and attended the ceremony at Veterans Memorial Hall; attended a house party at the home of former Rep. and Mrs. Bob Osterhaus in Maquoketa; attended a house party at the home of Ms. Ann Heinz in Dubuque; and attended a house party at the home of Rep. Mark Davitt and Amy Duncan in Indianola.
On May 29 [he plans to deliver the keynote address at a National Security Network luncheon at The Temple for Performing Arts in Des Moinescanceled at the start of the trip due to concern about voice after three days of campaigning]; met with the Des Moines Register editorial board; and attended a house party at the home of Sen. and Mrs. Jack Kibbie in Emmetsburg.
On May 30 he flew from Emmetsburg to Fort Dodge where he did debate prep in the morning for the June 3 debate in NH; he attended a luncheon with area Democrats at Marvin Gardens in Fort Dodge; and delivered the keynote at a Black Hawk County Democrats' fundraiser at Olsen's Boat House in Cedar Falls.
On the morning of May 31 he had coffee and pastries with area Democrats at Kirkwood Community College in Vinton; then flew out of Cedar Rapids.

On May 6 he attended a house party fundraiser with State Sen. Jeff Danielson at the home of Nick Powers in Waterloo; hold an Iraq town hall meeting with State Sen. Brian Schoenjahn at Dancing Lions Dance Hall in Oelwein; and hold an Iraq town hall meeting at the Longbranch Hotel in Cedar Rapids.
On May 7 he met with the editorial board of the Cedar Rapids Gazette; then proceeded to Davenport where he met with members of Working Families Win, a grassroots organizing campaign of Americans for Democratic Action, to discuss the struggles of working families at Mojo Coffee House in Davenport; and in the evening he attended a BBQ dinner hosted by State Sen. Joe Seng at his home in Davenport.

Joe Biden visited Iowa on April 20-21, 2007.  On April 20 he toured Pioneer Hi-Bred International and met with employees in Johnston; and spoke at the Polk County Democrats' 2007 Spring Fundraiser with Congressman Leonard Boswell in Walnut Center at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines.  On the morning of April 21 he held an Iraq town hall meeting at The Galleria at Fountain Park Event Center in Dubuque.

Joe Biden visited Iowa on April 2-3 (4), 2007.  He attended a house party at the home of Rick and Cathie Elkin in Cumming on the evening of April 2.  On April 3 he did some private meetings and in the afternoon he delivered a policy speech at Drake University Law School in Des Moines.  Biden was in state but had no public events on April 4.

On February 17 [he returned to Washington early in the morning for the vote in the Senate on the nonbinding resolution on Iraq, cancelng plans to be the keynote speaker at “Women For a Stronger America” breakfast at ADong Restaurant in Des Moines; speak at the Hawkeye Labor Council, AFL-CIO’s United Labor Alliance luncheon at RWDSU Local 110 Hall in Cedar Rapids; attend and speak at a lunch reception with the Linn County Phoenix Club at the History Center in Cedar Rapids; and]spoke at the Scott County Democrats Red, White and Blue Dinner at the Starlite Ballroom, Mississippi Fairgrounds in Davenport.
On February 18 he did a "Breakfast with Senator Biden" at Beck’s Restaurant in Waterloo; keynoted a “First in the Nation Series” event at Wartburg College in Waverly; and met with Butler County Democrats at A Matter of Taste Cafe in Allison;[and speak to Franklin County Democrats at the home of Mildred and Ben Van Hove in Hampton].ed. note: This trip was chopped up by the need to return to DC.  It is counted as: 2 trips, 3 days; a more conservative approach would tally it as just 1 trip.

Joe Biden visited Iowa on October 30-31, 2006Starting late afternoon on October 30 he plans three events in Fort Dodge: a press availability with State Senator Daryl Beall at the Fort Dodge Messenger; a meet and greet with Webster County Democrats at the Webster County Democratic headquarters at 14 North 11th Street; and in the evening he will participate in a domestic violence vigil at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.  On October 31 he plans a breakfast meet and greet with congressional candidate Dave Loebsack at the Wilson Avenue Hy-Vee in Cedar Rapids; a breakfast meet and greet with Loebsack at the Oakland Road Hy-Vee in Cedar Rapids; spoke at a Scott County Democrats luncheon with several candidates at The Hat Eatery and Pub in Davenport; and delivered the Manatt-Phelps Lecture in Political Science at Iowa State University.  -this trip definitely happened but not all details verified. ed

On August 28 in Des Moines he joined Congressman Leonard Boswell for a press conference on the criminal records upgrade program in the Capitol Rotunda; participated in a town hall discussion on Social Security with Congressman Boswell at Scottish Rite Park; and participated in a town hall discussion on college affordability with Congressman Boswell in the Lower Olmstead Center at Drake University.
August 29 was a low-key day in Des Moines.  He met with people from the Iowa Democratic Party; met with Iowa Drug Policy Control director Marvin Van Haaften; had lunch with the Des Moines Register's David Yepsen; met with law enforcement representatives; and met privately with Ed Fallon.
On August 30 he participated in a roundtable discussion on domestic violence with advocates and providers from the Des Moines area at the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence center in Des Moines, followed by a media availability.
