Former Sen. Tom Daschle announced on December 2, 2006 that he would not run for president.

Tom Daschle visited Iowa on June 9, 2006.  He started with "unscheduled driving" time around the Davenport area including stops at pharmacies (Medicare Part D) and gas stations (energy prices); did a press event with congressional candidate Bruce Braley at the Center for Active Seniors in Davenport (Medicare Part D); attended lunch, hosted by the Quad City Federation of Labor, at The Hat in Davenport; flew to Ames; joined gubernatorial candidate Chet Culver to talk about renewable energy outside the Lincolnway Ethanol Plant in Nevada; held a reception with Democrats at Hotel Fort Des Moines OR the Raccoon River Brewing Company in Des Moines [verifying, ed]; and did an event for congressional candidate Sheldon Spencer at a private home in Ames.
