The National Governors
Association
held its 97th Annual Meeting at the Polk County Convention Complex in
Des
Moines, Iowa on July 16-18, 2005, with related events on
July
15. More than 30 governors attended at least part of the
conference
including Gov. Tom Vilsack, who hosted the meeting, Gov.
Mark
Warner, outgoing NGA chair, Gov. Bill Richardson, and Gov.
Ed Rendell. In addition to the business sessions of the
meeting,
there were press conferences and social events, including an Iowa Cubs
game, receptions at Terrace Hill and the Science Center, and a
