Congressman Brian Baird
Endorses Obama
Chicago,
IL – Today, Congressman Brian Baird (WA-03) endorsed Barack Obama,
citing his ability to move Americans past the issues that divide us and
unite our country for change.
Congressman
Baird said, “The
Democratic nominating process began with a very strong field of
candidates which has since been narrowed to two outstanding
individuals. Both Senator Obama and Senator Clinton would bring
new
vision, strong leadership and much needed change to the
Presidency.
After much thought and consideration, I am announcing today that I am
endorsing Senator Barack Obama to be the Democratic Candidate and the
next President of the United States of America.
“Our nation faces
extraordinary challenges domestically and abroad. I believe
Senator
Obama will bring a vision of unity that will rekindle the very best of
our society and help all Americans move past the partisanship of the
past and into the progressive partnership of the future. It has
been
many years since Americans, particularly young Americans, felt the
sense of enthusiasm, hope and involvement that Senator Obama has
inspired. We need to nurture that enthusiasm for the good of all
Americans and I look forward to working closely in Congress with
President Obama.”
Senator Obama said, “I am grateful for the
support of Congressman Baird. Congressman Baird has shown real
leadership for the people of Washington State – from fighting to
improve infrastructure to finding innovative ways to invest in
America’s competitiveness and create new opportunities in math and
science for our students. I am proud that Washington State
caucused
for change on February 9th and look forward to having Congressman Baird
on our team as we bring change we can believe in – in Washington State
and across the country.”
