Veterans for Obama Roll Out Pennsylvania Steering Committee
Rep. Patrick Murphy to lead conference call with reporters

PHILADELPHIA-Rep. Patrick Murphy will lead a conference call with reporters Friday morning to announce the formation of the Pennsylvania Veterans for Obama Steering Committee. Murphy, a veteran of the Iraq war, and 26 other former members of the Armed Forces and veterans' advocates will take the lead in telling Pennsylvanians why Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden are the right choice this year for veterans. Senator Obama has a long record of standing up for better treatment of America's veterans, including the 1.1 million who live in Pennsylvania.

A member of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee, Senator Obama is dedicated to fully funding the VA medical system, expanding treatment for mental health and brain injuries, rebuilding and repairing the military and enacting the new bipartisan GI Bill, which was signed into law in June. John McCain opposes all these measures, and earned a 20 percent rating from the Disabled American Veterans for his more than 30 votes in the Senate against veterans' benefits since 1987.
