Beltway Happenings
October 22, 2006--Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-NC), the chairs of the Senate campaign committees, spoke to reporters after appearing on CBS News' "Face the Nation."  Democrats need to win six seats to regain control in the Senate.
Sen. Schumer assessed the Democrats' prospects as "very, very good."  "We're on the edge of taking back the Senate," Schumer said.
"We're going to keep the Senate," Sen. Dole told reporters.  She said Republicans are best equipped to wage "the very serious war against terror."
