|Jan. 13, 2009--After the briefing on planning for the Inauguration, Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine spoke with reporters. On Jan. 8 President-elect Barack Obama announced Kaine as his choice to become chairman of the Democratic National Committee; members of the DNC will make that choice official at the party's winter meeting on Jan. 21. Although Republicans have questioned (+) whether the DNC position will divert his attention from governing Virginia , Kaine said he did not foresee any problems.
