2008 Republican
National Convention
St. Paul, MN Sept.
1-4, 2008
Due to Hurricane
Gustav, the McCain campaign and the Convention announced on Aug. 31
that the planned program would be cancelled. The pared down
program included official business, video remarks from four governors
whose states are in the path of the Hurricane, and First Lady Laura Bush
and Mrs. Cindy McCain speaking on relief efforts. Outside the
Convention, thousands engaged in the March on the RNC and
Stop the War protest, while a small number engaged in criminal acts in
an unsuccessful effort to disrupt the Convention.
