February 25, 2006--Dr. David L. Katz, M.D., M.P.H., Associate Professor
Adjunct in Public Health Practice at Yale School of Public Health, said
Americans are in "a sea of dietary troubles." Katz presented a dramatic
sequence of slides on obesity trends. He suggested a polar
bear in the middle of a desert as an analogy, but, he said, "we are much
smarter than the average bear" and should "fight this war on all fronts
by taking common sense action." For example, Katz cited his Nutrition
Detectives® program, which encourages elementary school children to
pay attention to the ingredients of the foods they eat. |
