Five Candidates Address DNC Fall Meeting
Clinton Absent Due to Hostage Situation   ...Next >
November 30, 2007--Several hundred supporters of Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) lined up before the second general session at the Democratic National Committee's Fall Meeting at the Sheraton Premier at Tysons Corner in Vienna, VA.  An activist took advantage of the gathering to collect signatures to put Clinton on the Virginia ballot.  At about 2 o'clock, however, DNC Chairman Gov. Howard Dean announced that Clinton would not be able to address the gathering.
Dozens of members were wearing "Supers for Hillary" buttons.  Superdelegates include the 430 DNC members, 266 Democratic members of Congress, and 28 Democratic governors, as well as distinguished party leaders.  They will account for 825 of the 4,206 total delegate votes (19.6 percent) at the Democratic National Convention.
